I towed a small 2000 lb trailer from LA to Colorado Springs with my old '02 3.9 automatic Dak. Mileage was terrible, power was totally absent, and stopping was terrifying. Yes it was a lot of mountain driving and while you may be able to go carefully on flat land I really don't recommend it. You asked for real world - over a million miles accident free and a lot of towing mixed in. I don't scare easily - that trip scared me. Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...
