In your picture, it seems, judging by the wear marks from the spare tire, that it aligns nicely with the rod in the position shown. To my knowledge, the space saver would be on the other position (to give you more trunk space).
Apparently you've never seen the adapter that allows the blower & speaker both to use one opening..
