Needed new double adj rear shock 4 link car. Its at a shop getting some up dates. He says he what's to put ether strange or QA1 what is your experance with either. Thanks

Depends. How quick is it? Stick or auto? How aggressive is the 4 link? Pro tree? Radials?

Strange and QA1 shelf shocks are adequate for most 10 and mild, light, 9 second cars. Get aggressive, add a power adder, manual, big motor, get into the 8s, low 1.30s and quicker in 60, and you can outgrow them pretty quick.

Then you get into custom stuff or something like a Big Gun Afco.

Cheap out on shocks with a car that needs something better and you usually end up chasing your tail with it. Shocks and finding the sweet spot with SLR are two things at the top of the list of important decisions. You may not need a $1800 set of shocks. But if you do and try to run it with a $700 set of shocks, you will be fighting it.

You should think about running a set of good double adjustable front shocks also even with no outside springs for coil oversup scope work

I have no complaints using QA1 double adjustable shocks on the rear. I upgraded from Comp Eng 3 way adjustable shocks and only notice slight improvement, but have way more adjustabiltly. My ladder bar car runs mid 10s, with a 1.47 60' footbraking with a 29.5x13.5 slick, so I don't need a super high end shock as I'm kinda slow and have a larger tire.

For a mid level priced shock The Afco doubles work very well. We run them on the front as well. The BG doubles have plenty of adjustment range. They are available in 5, 6, 7," travel. My car hooks anywhere on 10.5's and ladder bars. Mid to high 1.2 60ft depending on ballast. We put some Strange doubles on the front of my friends B body. They are to short to allow full suspension travel.

Menscer Afco's on the rear of ours (the stock afco's ran out of ext damping), we use radials btw and it dead hooks. We have another engine that is over 300hp more than the one in now and I'm confident they'll still be good. We've been through a few different brands now, both front and rear.

My truck has off the shelf Strange DA shocks. Its been 1.20 60' 5 teens and 8.0's here in Vegas not really running it hard. It weighs 3100 sand change. Woudl it quicker with a better shock, probably. Are they adequate for me for now, absolutely. I rarely run the car all out and for what I spend 90% of my racing time doing they work just fine...FWIW my 64 has the same shcoks front and rear. Its been 1.25 60' and 8.80's here in Vegas at 3600

I’d rather have strange over the QA1 , but they are both good . Remember though , buying great shocks is one part , learning how to adjust/use them is almost more important !

IMO it depends on the intended use. I run the Strange stuff on my bracket cars, also Afco depends on what I am after. For the heads up car we run Penskes and the price is usually enough to scare most away. But we need every last .01 we can find
