raised ports, standard port window. as far as the good and bad goes, i don't know. i used to build a 470 for some friends using an early set of heads. the only issue we had was head gaskets. started using 1039's and the problems ended. personally, i like them but they do need to be checked out.

There is no real good Stage 6 casting, unless it's a Chapman. I don't think that part # is a Max Wedge.

They all need a bunch of work.

But work fairly well after the work.

Problem is, you can get Victors that out flow Stage 6's for way cheaper.

I wouldn't go down that road again.

Chris...

Thanks for the info...I run an old 1998 purchased set of Stage 6's on the dragster that have been extensively worked, repaired twice and are waiting for another repair, none of which was the heads fault this set came along and the price seems too good to pass up (500 for the pair)...If I buy them they will be immediately sent off to one of our resident Moparts head experts for a complete checkout, port job and build up. Just didn't want to buy a set that was a known suspicious lot.

For that price, buy them. Even if you put $1000 into them, that is about the price of a pair of bare victors before the work that they require. Since you already have a set of 6s, you could re-use a bunch of stuff- no?

Watch what you Get From Mancini. At the Chrysler Classics last weekend they had Stage 6 heads for $700 a pair, I looked them over real good, and asked what it would take to buy these BARE pair of heads....he told me $650 for Both heads...The more I thought about this, I figured something wasn't right...I went back, and after a long conversation, they guy admitted that the heads were 2nds. They were about 4-5 sets total 12:00 on Friday...Evening of Saturday there was only one bare head left.
I wondered how many of those heads had major unforeseen problems?
I also wonder How many of the buyer's knew they were 2nds...

Dont't know...it's an individual that I know and I don't know where he got them. Maybe I 'll ask... he's decided to go with 440-1s

P4532134... is that a part # or a casting #? I don't have the old(er) Stage VI part # list in front of me (might be in the archived Tech thread on here somewhere) to cross-check it.

EDIT: Found the Tech Archive thread... I think you're looking at the casting #, not a part #:

"part #s for Stage VIs. I found '96, '99 and '02 MP catalogs and
have listed what they offered each of those years. You'll notice they've changed the
offerings a bit and there are numerous part number revisions.

Also, given all the QC issues the various sets of Stage VIs I've owned or had my hands on have had, I'd say they're ALL "seconds" they way the come from MP...

, I've only had a couple sets and my latest even though ported and ready to run has one head with incorrectly located DOWEL PIN holes ??? The head bolt holes are correctly placed , how the dowel pins can be off is beyond me

Only reason I asked is that Mancini was selling Stage 6 heads last weekend at the CC and they had one single bare head they were trying to sell.

Hey Rob,
John Yates has some Mopar heads for sale. I think they are pretty much Edelbrock RPM heads that he ran on his car for a couple of years. I think he is selling them complete with an intake, pushrods, etc. for around $1400.

standard port window.

Correct. Same casting number is sold today as P4529335 but the foundry has changed a few times.

Thanks, you going to Denton Saturday? I'm supposed to check the heads out there at the race.

Yeah I'll be there Saturday. My Dart is giving me issues so I don't have an electronics car for the 10grander on Sunday.
