My experience on these is that the originals have a much more pronounced bend on top where the air filter rests. The repops are almost angled there.

The one you have may possibly be the later version, painted wrinkle finish by someone and the reproduction decal added.
There is a slight variance in the tube off the side in original run wrinkle finish one and the later run unit.
I bought one when they were first reintroduced and it appeared to have a light wrinkle finish on it , I thought.

What he said , the originals I have/had had black bases , the repop didn't .

the MP one i know for a fact you could get in chrome or wrinkle finish black. i bought a black one in the mid 90's.

No doubt about it, the original box for my NOS DC air cleaner has chrome and black air cleaner pictures on it!
Still available in chrome with and without a breather spout/tube
