Who would you recommend for an engine wiring harness. Mines pretty hacked up and I would like to remove the worry. I've heard about Evans, however I don't have any experience with them (or any other electrical supplier for that matter). Also, how would you recommend cleaning the electrical block/receiver end in the firewall?
Thanks!

Other alternative is Year One who is exclusive distributor for M&H.

Cleaning the bulkhead - can use any favorite degreaser and q-tips, there is always a better way, maybe others will chime in soon. The green discoloration from terminal corrosion is typically permanent though...

M&H makes good harness's to Year One specs which sometimes ends up being more universal than specific.

M&H will correct any problems if you are willing to pay shipping both ways. Shiping is cheap and they do a good job especially if you can also send them your old harness to use as an example.

Tuner cleaner from Radio Shack works well as a cleaner with a small wire brush.

Had my bulkhead blocks soda blasted and replaced all the internal connectors. I redid all my wiring 1 wire at a time. Looks nice and I know all my stuff is all new.

BTW .....I'm not an electrician, it's just a very straight forward job, tidious yes, but if ya got the time it's fun

Qtips...hadn't thought of that. As far as removing from the backside, I looked under the dash and I don't think I can even touch the wires let alone remove and clean from that end. Will look again though...Any other cleaning ideas?

Thanks a lot for the replies!

I got mine from Roseville Moparts. I checked all over the internet trying to find one for my 70 Coronet for a decent price, then just googled the part number and came across their site -- they had it for $115 standard, or $125 with electronic ignition.

I had low expectations because it was so cheap, but when it showed up I was quite pleased.

year one no doubt. i used an evans harness and the damn thing had bad crimps all over it, drove me nuts. what a mess that thing was. just installed a year one harness in a friends car and it dropped right in and quality was top notch.

there was a thread here some where that quite a few others had the same problems i had with that evans crap.

It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I got mine from Evans ten (!) years ago. I wasn't looking for a resto grade product, just something that WORKED. It has worked and held up very well, including 4yrs of daily grind when my wagon was my only means of transportation.
