use a stock magnum starter from any mid 90's truck... The one I picked up was from a 94 Dakota 3.8 V-6 They will fit from the slant 6 to the hemi..

Not to hijack but has anybody had any trouble with these hitting the block at the base of the starter? mine uses an adapter midplate to adapt the powerglide and it has a spacer block where it bolts to the midplate and the starter is hitting the block and kicking the starter sideways. Any ideas?
Starter is same as above

I'm real Happy using starters from DB Electrical in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Just got one of their late model high torque #SND0088 Mini starters for the 12:1 414 for $76.00 shipped...no core.

Great people to deal with too, I got a 1 wire Alt from them too

I use junk yard mini-starters from small block (Magnum) engines in my big block 727 application. I did have one block be real close from block casting flash near the transmission mating surface. A little grinding to clean up the casting flash was all it took. But since I saw that one, I clean up that area on all big blocks before I paint them...
