Hello moparts GURUS, I have a couple of questions about 73-76 A-body spindles I bought at Chryslers at Carlisle awhile back. The guy I bought these from wasn’t sure what year Dart they come off of, and the part numbers are just about gone. My question is this, are they interchangeable from left to right? If not, how can I tell which one goes where? I was told some calipers mounted in the front and some in the back depending on the year, is this true? Also, I was told if you use the front mounted calipers you can’t run a front sway bar, is this true? Can I use my 68 Charger upper control arms with these spindles?
I would like to do a disk brake conversion on my 68 R/T Charger that came with front drums. I also bought the master cylinder, proportioning valve, calipers, new rotors and dust shields from him, but the master is non-power. Can I use a 73 Roadrunner power brake booster, master cylinder & proportioning valve with out any problems? I would like to have power brakes

I’m attaching a picture I hope this helps. I can e-mail any other pictures if you need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

I'm no expert, but I recently built my 64 fury with spindles from a 73 dart. They are interchangeable right to left, but putting them on so the calipers are to the front is the best for ease of brake line installation.
Now, if you have a sway bar, that has to be considered. If using an early bar (69-back) you have to mount the calipers to the rear to have clearance for endlinks. If using 70-up factory sway bar, then putting the calipers to the front makes it so you can just use OE flexible brake lines and route them as stock.
I've got 70-71 k-frame, lower control arms and sway bar on the fury, so calipers are mounted to the front.

BTW, I learned all that AFTER I had set them all up with the calipers to the rear. Was easy to see how the flex lines went after I switched them...

Want the calipers on the opposite side (of the spindle) of where the mounting tab for the hard line/neoprene line is but as said if running a sway bar that MAY force you to run them on the rear then a diff/or custom flex brake line to deal w that. Want no interference w the hose from lock to lock and bounce/jounce (up/down). '78 volare hoses worked for me & cut off the metal mounting bracket that is crimped on the middle of the hose. I cut off the bracket/left the crimp as it's hard(er) to remove WO damaging the neoprene (but it can b done if need b) & a bit unsightly but no harm no foul. As said peruse Ehrenbergs' MA article
