Is there a special tool needed to remove the SS trim mouldings from the front and rear windshields? Thanks

You can pick up a cheap tool for it or, you can use a flat butter knife and a cloth(for the painted surfaces). If you use the butter knife method, gently slide it in between the body and the molding, and gently pry up, try and get the knife in as far as you can. If you take your time this method works fine I used it for years until I found the trim removal tool for a cheap price.
