I recently rebuilt the 727 in my pickup and i think the low/reverse band is too tight? When driving down the road, it acts like im taking off in 2nd gear and when i manually shift into low, it drags the motor down and acts like its trying to go into reverse.yesterday, i had the band too loose and it wouldnt go in reverse at all, now i have reverse but no low gear. Any ideas?

I got my 727 back from the tranny shop, drove it down the road & as i shifted into 2nd. it acted like i was putting on the brakes, it had a manual VB, after pulling the pan i realized they didn't adj. the band, it was 1/2 turn , after i re-adj. it all was good, you may want to double check the adj. on both bands.

So would that mean the bands were too loose or too tight?

On mine it was too tight, WAY too tight, You need to get the manual for the adj. & set them, i'm drawing a blank on what they are, maybe someone will chime in.

This may help.
