The illustrations for M&H '68 and '69 under dash wiring harnesses for B-body Plymouth with oil pressure light appear to be different and so is the price. Does anyone know the differences between the two (it's obvious that the '69 is more complex, at least the images are) and could I use a '68 wiring harness from a '68 Road Runner on a '69 GTX with oil pressure light? Part # Description Price Add to Cart HU268B Dash harness, 1968 Plymouth and Dodge B-body models with oil light, reproduction. $549.00 '68 Part # Description Price Add to Cart HU271B Dash harness, 1969 Plymouth and Dodge B-body models with oil light, reproduction. $499.00 '69

Thanks John and Tony, now I'm thinking the wiring harness I have is from a '69 road runner......and my GTX does have a console and a 4-speed so how do I tell which year wiring harness I have Can I tell by the ignition switch connection...thanks. MikeR

Fuse box is in the same basic location just accessed differently , underdash vs thru the open glove box.
The connector on the ignition switch is the same one has an extra wire the other does not going by memory when I owned both and stripped both .

John, I checked the ignition switch connection/wiring on the harness that I have in hand at the moment (have another at home) to the wiring schematics here http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/1968/68BelvedereGTXSatelliteRoadRunnerA.JPG and here http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/1969/69BelvedereGTXSatelliteRoadRunnerA.JPG and there is no extra wire that I can see, only a different routing of the dark blue wire but still the same number of wires. Now the only thing that I can see that might denote a '68 from a '69 is that the list of circuits is alpha characters for the '68 and numerical for the '69 for the instrument lights, high beam indicator, temp gauge, gauge feed etc. (see the attached links to wiring diagrams. The under dash wiring harness I have has alpha characters and I'll check the one I have at home to see which characters it has......I hope numerical

Anyone have a known '69 B-body under dash wiring harness that can check if it has numeric characters on the instrument plug/connection. I can't get to my '69 GTX quick enough and hoping someone might have one out of the car......Tony you have one laying around you can check Thanks, MikeR This is out of a '68 road runner with letters:

Okay in the mean time: I've been comparing the '68 wiring harness to the '69 and one of the differences I found is the lack of a Yellow w/tracer wire from the "Light Switch" on the '69 connection at the switch. Here is the wiring harness I have that DOESN'T HAVE THE YELLOW W/TRACER sitting on a '68 wiring schematic diagram that shows the yellow tracer? I'm starting to think I have a '69 wiring harness that I need This Yellow w/tracer wire goes from the dash switch to the front running lights(turn signal) on the '68 and now I think I know why the front running lights go off when you put the headlights on the '68 (rr,sat..) but not on the '69's...... I'm gonna say the yellows are for the door pillar switches, and that black wire is most likely the wire to the e-brake switch. I 'm sure that's the way my harness is on my 68 GTX.
Those yellows are the dome light switches in the pillar.

Thanks Richard and JohnRR...the more I study the '68 and '69 wiring schematics the less I really find different but still need to keep digging The Yellow w/tracer at the light switch on the '68 harness and the side marker light wiring at the front (not the under dash harness but I need to trace that circuit down ) seems to be the only "telltales" of which harness is which. Thanks again guys for the help MikeR

A12, I just wanted to comment on the passenger side door pillar dome light switch. On my Roadrunner, which has the light package, I have two yellow wires coming out of the plug and not really sure where they go. My harness was pretty hacked up as well. So I'm kind of going through what you are.
What year? And I'm trying to figure out the console, map light, etc. The A01 light package would have had a glove box light, map light, time delay light at the ignition key switch, the console would have lights that went on when the doors open one on each side, then of course the fender top mounted "bullets" and the trunk light......
My GTX doesn't have the Light Package but I'd like too so I'm looking for what makes all of that work
I'll keep you guys informed with what I keep finding..
MikeR
