Guys,

Me and a bud of mine removed my passenger side rear quarter and am currently trying to get everything done for the new install. I got full AMD Quarters for my 70 Swinger and if anyone has done this before, I'm open to some tips--or how the fit went for ya. In our haste, we did mess up the corner support. Does anyone know if any offers these or not?? I emailed AMD but haven't heard back from they yet. I think this brace was orginally welded to the factory quarter and not on the window corner...but could be wrong there. I have included a picture of the driver's side bracket to make my question clearer. I am pretty sure I will need this brace for support. Any ideas? Thanks!!

I'm having a hard time making out what the picture shows. Maybe I need a shot further away for reference.
I'd imagine that 70-76 would have a similar design since the darts went to a sloped rear deck after 69.
Since you are replacing quarters, is it possible for you to repair the damaged piece?

Well...I started at the spotwelds, taking out each one...but, my "Camaro" bud who has removed several quarters and replaced...just wanted to go grinding and popping spot welds. In the window area, it's very obvious that one should take a "light" approach here...which we did not. Now, I'm paying the price. That is how it is, with a 69 Camaro...you just pick up a book and order what you want..which just isn't true in "our" world..LOL. Just glad we didn't do the driver's quarter at the same time.

I found that AMD does offer a deck filler patch kit...which offers basically this same brace...but, it's for B body cars, and haven't heard if they are working on A body stuff yet or not for this area. I know they are about to offer trunk rails, etc. With the curved rear glass of a Swingers, Darts, or Scamps..am sure the corners of the window tend to rust out pretty bad.

If you go into the trunk area...and squirm you way around,as it's hard to see it, you will see this brace is there to support each corner of the quarter panel/deck panel, at each corner of the rear glass..to give it support. My guess...to beef it up at each corner of the glass, as well gives support to the quarter panel. Sorry for the picture..I was on my back, taking a picture upside down...and had to wiggle into the perfect spot to even get the picture

I used to deal with Mark Nixon quite a bit, many years ago...don't know if he is still around or not. I let my project sit for many years and finally got the kids outta house and have some free time to work on it. If anyone knows his email...maybe I can give him a shout on what I need.
