Is THAT why I'm having trouble getting mine to push down?

btw: ist there a trick to remove the headrests from the bench? I've tried with pure violence - didn't work...
They just pull out. I didn't like head rest's in early 70's & wanted mine out, they wouldn't budge & I was worried about it coming lose & punch the headliner while I was pulling it. Took a little scissor jack, wrapped a couple 6" 2x4's in red rags on each side & slowly screwed it up. They popped right out.
