Those appear to be aftermarket.

aftermarket from who? these have been bolted to a bumper in my garage for over 20 years and that bumper has round holes where the stud goes through not square like all off the other 70/71 bumper i have ever owned or have seen. i took it off the car myself and just never thought anything of it until i started going through stuff while cleaning and noticed to stamping on the bottom. i though they were just added by someone from a b or c body because they were much bigger.

Well, that's interesting! I think your asking in the right place, but I haven't seen or heard of anything like that. Barracuda's all came with rear bumper guards, so there would be no need for an aftermarket supplier. I'd guess england export car, probably due to different crash standards. Rarity level is probably off the charts! Value is going to be pretty low due to lack of desireability. Not many people looking for these.

Hopefully some of our Moparts friends in England can chime in with some more info?

i did read something about england's different impact standards but didn't see any pictures, i did find a few pictures of export cars but they all had the regular bumper guard but i was thinking maybe once the car was exported they would get changed there. they do say made in England.

As far as I know, no E bodies were sold through official Chrysler channels in the UK.

A body Barracudas were exported in RHD form for the UK market and sold through a Chrysler dealership called Warwick Wright in London, but that stopped with the introduction of the E bodies.

E bodies continued to be marketed in LHD form in Europe, including the well documented 71 HemiCuda convertibles that were sold from a Chrysler dealership in Paris.

I believe that some of them may have been assembled in Belgium, but I can't imagine that they would have needed different bumper guards. European crash standards have always lagged behind the USA.

Adam is correct. No ebody cars were sold new in the UK. Although some were sold in mainland Europe through Simca deaerships. The cars were built in the USA though and were shipped in an almost finished condition with just the Euro things like the lights and a few other minor things to complete.

It is probably not that unusual for some parts to be made here and shipped to the USA or indeed other countries. But why only some and why are these ones more heavy?

A good example of things being made here for Chrysler is the Plymouth Prowler bodies which I believe were all made here in the UK and shipped to the USA for assembly.

The main idea of selling NEW Chrysler car might be true. I don't doubt it. I have not seen other examples.

There is one exception though: The only Y09 Export 1970 hemicuda convertible was ordered and sold new in England. If you are not familiar, it is the FC7 (In-Violet) PRXW (Leather and Vinyl White and Black) car that is now in Arizona.

Hi Ola. I know the car (and the English owner who had it in the 80's). I was under the impression it had been imported to the UK in the early 70's. Thanks for enlightening me!
