Just wondering because I dont seem to find a spray paint color I like or one that doesnt too much gloss and when you try and clean off smudge marks it looks even worse.

Any powder coats pics, even ones where you have painted your housing as I want to see what you used?

Larry @ JIT Powder Coating here. Sorry, no pictures but we've done transmission cases and even a couple engine blocks. We'd charge around $150 to do one.

The masking of the case is where the expense is: lots of manual labor and the high temp masking required isn't cheap. You can't tape them off with masking tape or duct tape.

Talk to your coater and try to select an epoxy chemistry for the best chemical and corrosion resistance. Tend to take elevated temps reasonably well too. Your problem may be finding an epoxy in the specific color you're looking for.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, I can easily find epoxy for the tranny. PPG Aquapon or PPG Pitt-Guard will work well. Each will work fine on aluminum. The Aquapon is a little more chemical resistant. As mentioned the trick is getting the right color mix. I have access to all this, so I wont be put out until I get it right. The advantage of being a PPG rep. We even sell the powdercoat, and I have some customers who use powdercoat, but its not my specialty.
