what,s the main cause of front wheel wobble after a wheelstand, and what can be done to eliminate it? had to abort 2 runs this weekend. looked at the car and found the strut rod forward mount a little loose. tightened them up but am interested in other possible sources of wobble. the steering is nice and tight and wheelbearings are adjusted correctly. some cars seem prone to this more than others and i want to get a handle on this.

Have you done a toe curve to see how much it changes
that would be number 1 think since you checked for
loose parts

Toe curve or bump steer. Try making a lower control arm bump that is thicker. Tighten the compression of the front shocks.

when i built the car i remember checking the toe curve and it was terrible. i ended up heating and bending the right outer tie rod down and it got the curves equal. it was still bad but somewhat better. i have installed Bobs Pro Fab tubular upper arms last year and had to undo the right outer tie rod bend, bought a new one. the car has always shook the tires a little but this weekend it never quit, i had to lift and tap the brakes to get it to stop. double adjustable front shocks are on the way.

As already covered above, bump steer which will show up if you run a toe curve, flexing/squishing of rubber bushings (upper and lower control arm, and strut),..... but also, if the wheelstand is big and the frame isn't supported, your frame rails can flex in at the top during the landing. Likely a combination of all the above. I am sure there are other components, but that's what comes to mind right off the bat.

Hey Bill, car has a 12 point cage with braces to the upper shock mount. it seems i need to revisit the toe curve and start correcting as neccessary.

I think the front bars will minimize the frame deal, there is a lot of forces going on when they land. I wouldn't sweat it too much, if you look, there are a lot of cars (in fact most that wheelstand very high) that wobble the front wheels right when they land and usually doesn't effect the drive of the car at all. Running the toe curve is a good idea anyway but poly bushings might also help the issue. Correcting what you find is where the work starts. Often compromises will be considered before its all done. Becomes very difficult to correct bump steer through the entire stock front end travel, limiting travel definitely helps but then you lose some weight transfer potential on the launch. If the bump steer is equal through the travel and not too great you often don't notice the effects. When the bump steer becomes excessive and is not quite the same on each side the car will drive like crap.

I think the real question here is does the car drive good ?

nothing here to help, but watching the nhra race sunday they showed a couple of stockers in super slow mo and you could see their fronts wobbling after big wheel stands.
