........I had to remove my oil filter adapter to put the engine in. I know, I should have waited.......anyway, it ruined the center bolt gasket, and it leaked while pre-lubing it. Would a nylon washer work? By the way, thanks to all on the many Mopar tips I got in here, my Plymouth is coming along nicely!!!!!

the thin one on the outside under the bolt head? I believe a nylon one would work.

I got one, I think it is way better than the one I had. On the header gaskets, does the metal side go towards the headers?

check on the gasket(s),it might be stamped on there which side goes where.

Nope, nothing. No directions either, they are ROL gaskets. I am thinking towards the headers, because the heat will be going there, and you would want to protect the block.

my parts house ex manifold gaskets had IIRC "manifold side" stamped on one side & I thought yours might be the same.

I searched (for almost an hour) Google, and the best I could come up with was the aluminum side was the crush side, and goes against the header. I looked on my Z-28, and sure enough...........that's how they are. And they don't leak. Duh! So I could have saved an hour by going out in the garage!

Nah that would have been too easy. I think my set that had "manifold side" stamped on it was a felpro replacement set & it was stamped on the silvery metallic side.

Yeah, the easy way never seems to present itself until AFTER! Thanks for your replies Robert, I think I will be good to go.
