trying to decide on brand and size.
I don't want issues turning and rubbing.
I have a set of 15 inch rims I will be using.
right now I have 215 70 14's on it.

The pickings are slim for 235 60 15's. and am not sure if that is too wide or not.
I want the same size all the way around.

looks like my only brand choices are cooper, firehawk or bfg's if I want raised white letters.

Blackwall, I can go for anything realy if I give up the 235's and go for 215's or 225's.
Not sure how that will look.

Cooper Cobra's are an excellent tire, and used them alot back in the 15" wheel days.

Personally I'd run nothing smaller than 245/60/15 all around if you want them all the same size. I run 235/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear.

Unless you have a crazy backspace you can run 255/60/15 with no problems on 15x7 wheels, easy.

pretty standard, but I was more concerned about the front end.

I think 255's might be pushing on the back end. but the last time I tried that was with a 67 and it would not clear the lip.

65 and 67 are two totally different animals. Get that out of your head. The 255's will fill the wheel wells much better on a 65, and clear the rear just fine with 15x7 wheels. I know, I've ran them in different combos on my 65 Coronet. You can even run a 275 on a 15x7 wheel in the back OK, but it's tight. The 255 would look nice all the way around. I wouldn't go any smaller than 245 all around otherwise the tire will look too small if it's a 235 all around.

thanks. That was my concern.
pretty much all the places I called don't have 15 inch tires in stock.
235's on paper look smaller as well but I was afraid I couldn't get anything bigger to fit.

Use this to give you a good idea comparing tire sizes

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

FWIW, the 235 60 15 is almost identical in diameter to the 215 70 14

thanks. that helps some too.

going to 245 or 255 pretty much limits me to the same sets as the 235's.

so cobra's, firehawks, or BFG's.

guess cobras have the lead in votes. anyone else?

The cobras may be good tires, but the BFG's look better IMO. I might go with Eagle GTII's instead but sizing is limited.

Around here, some of the BFG's are on super-duper-forever back order as well.... can't remember if it was the 225's ? 235's ? 245's ? (60 series that is)

I noticed that too, but found that some places stock a new part number and have the 255 in stock.

While they may look better, I prefer the smaller white letters over the huge cooper one's, performance and longevity based on the stuff I see says cooper has the edge.

I wish goodyear made one in that size. I would be all over it. But they don't.

Get some black paint and go around the Cooper writing until it's smaller.
