Scroll down to the first 383 entry...has anyone built one of these big cube strokers? What are your comments on the results? Any machine work necessary?

i built a couple for customers that bought those kits. we reground the crank to correct the stroke and index. we corrected the taper and out of round at the same time. we resized all of the rods on the small end, all were too tight and IIRC we resized a few big ends as well to correct size and roundness. no problems after that that i can recall. i guess it kind of screwed up the thinking that it's a ready out of the box kit and added some expense as well. in the end i think better parts could have been purchased that didn't need any extra work. if you want things right, take everything to a qualified machinist and get it checked out to be safe.
i don't think thier parts are any better or worse than any low dollar kit. most need some kind of work to make them last a long life. sometimes your the bug and sometimes your the windshield. of the kits we used i'd say those customers were the bugs. hopefully you'll be the windshield. in fairness, some people claim everything was "spot on", but that hasn't been my experience.
