Just getting started on a car. Know a little but don't wish to totally rely on friends etc. I have looked for restoration books for my 70 Barracuda but lots are pictures and specs. What is a good book to learn showing breakdowns etc if there is such a thing? Would like a bit more info to assist in bringing another Mopar back to life.

Thanks Moparts

The chassis manual also has a good deal of info in it. You can get the manual on CD or in book form.

Do not buy the book from Paul Herd.... More a work of fiction than a restoration manual...

I have yet to see ANY Mopar "Restoration" book that's not plagued with a ton of inaccuracies. I agree, get a service manual and post questions here on Moparts, you"ll typically get the best answers here if the correct answers exist.

I have seen the disc etc on ebay, just wasn't sure if it was the info I required like the other books. I will look into the service manual. Thanks a bunch....I,m sure you will be answering more in the future.

FSM for sure, and take your camera to some car shows & photograph/take notes on known-original cars. As you disassemble the car you're working on, same deal: photos & notes. Every detail is important. Clean every part to see markings. It's basically detective/forensics work. Some details on your car may vary from the norm, so document them.
As noted, the Paul Herd books are crap.
