I was hooking up the linkage rods today (dont laugh at my attach clips they are only temporary) and I can get the shifter to go through all the fwd gears but I cannot get the reverse shifter plate to move all the way aft. Does anyone have a solution for this with out taking off the cover?

I believe @ the shifter end, the center rod swivel needs to be reversed, attached to the other side of the shifter ear. See attached pic.

Have you tried shortening the reverse rod?

The reverse rod in your first pic look very A/F/M-body like.

I will turn the other adjuster for 1st/2nd around. Thanks my assembly manual was not real clear for the direction.

Reverse Rod length can be adjusted but its like the gear inside the transmission is binding.

Try spinning the tranny while trying to shift, it could be that the clearence is so tight that it doesn't want to mesh.

73/74 ebody reverse rods are slightly different bigger bend than the 71-72 looking at Brewers.

Loosen up side case bolts and tap the side cover upwards and forward (or whatever direction works) to ease the bind on your reverse linkage. The cover does move a bit when loose.
