Im thinking about going to a Hot Rod City Garage aluminum gas tank in my 68 Cuda , 505 RB with around 600-650 HP. 950 Holly , CNC'ed Stealth heads running pump gas thru a Victor intake.
My question is what fuel pump and fuel lines would you guys run ?

Ive looked at the Aeromotive A1000 electric fuel pump .
Hot Rod City garage said they could install any pump I would want.
What fuel pressure would be recommended for a street strip application ?
The car will be a cruiser with street-strip action , not a all out racer or trailer queen

Thanks guys
Donnie

What does the engine builder recommend? I'd guess 7psi on the pressure? In tank isn't going to be cheap. 1/2" line if you plan on racing it...3/8 might work.

The tank is about $400 from Hot Rod City Garage , I'm gonna call Rock Valley today and see what they have.
Fuel sending unit another $45
Fuel pump and regulator another $500...... not cheap , but I gotta have good a pump and regulator anyway .
I'm wanting to keep a gas tank to have a trunk area in my fastback Cuda , And I'm thinking the fuel pump in the tank would be a much cleaner install .
Anybody else have a car they have done this to already ?
Any more suggestions on the fuel pump and related parts guys ?

Thanks
Donnie

Check Summit I think they have intank and pump combos for less than that.

you can adapt your stock sending unit to in tank...
check the pic.. it's from a magazine article years ago about a duster build. I think the car was called "dust ya" used a stock vette intank pump..

My engine set-up is very similar to yours, except I have a Dominator. I use a mechanical pump backed up by a Holley gerotor electric.

The mechanical does just fine for the majority of the street time. I have the electric mounted on a strip of old used tire that is attached to the upper shock cross member. The electric is controlled by a micro switch actuated by the secondary accelerator pump arm. I also have a manual switch under the dash just in case something happens.

This combo has served me well for several years now and will feed the Cuda into the 6s @ 104 in the 1/8. Its quiet, dependable, and affordable.

3/8" hard line would starve the engine occasionally when the car was warm. 1/2" was just about impossible to run. So I ran 3/8" hose and bored out the fittings as much as possible. That fixed the delivery problem.

I run about 5.5lbs of regulated fuel pressure. I do not have a return line, but if I ever have to change the fuel delivery set-up, I will add one and change to the appropriate regulator.

IMHO you do not have to spend a thousand dollars or so to feed a stout 500" engine.

Master, again and still

i have used a Weldon 600 flow thrue for 37K miles. Works great feeding two 750's on a 511 Hemi.

I have a Ricks Hot Rod tank, Pricey but first class. Very heavy tank though. I did not know they double wall the bottom so that you do not see the welds., I think the tank with punps , weighs 70 lbs.

Are the pump and filters accessible without dropping the tank ?
And when I talked with them , it sounded like a 1st class operation but very expensive .
I like the Aeromotive stealth pick up , but man........ they are high dollar also
Looks like I may go Hot Rod City garage

you don't need all that. You can hide an external pump and save $400.
