yesterday my wife and I were out with another couple and as we were leaving a parking lot I spotted a 68 Dart parked off to the side with what appeared to be a for sale sign in the window. I convinced everyone that we needed to look at this car. The car was a 68 Dart GTS with bucket seats and a 4 speed. What was odd was the GTS hood inserts were nothing like I have seen on other cars. They had no engine designation only three ovals in the recessed area. There was also an approx. 2" round script with 318 below it on each side the the front fenders. The interior which looked original was in a different pattern also. The for sale sign that was in the lt.rear window was turned around so the information was facing inward and was difficult to read. It did say something about export and a phone number with a price I think was 15,000. Everyone wanted to get to dinner so we left and I did not get a picture. I called the number and it was disconnected of course. I plan to return on Monday and see if it is still there. Are these rare or desirable? Thanks Bob

Based on the location, if legit I would guess it is one of the models made in Mexico.

Its sounds like a Mexican Dart. I saw a simliar at Spring Fling a few years ago. Theres a few threads over on FABO that shows pics of the Brazilian Darts, which are very similar to the Mexican Darts.

Thanks for the info. I plan to go back and look at it much closer and take some pics. It appeared to be a pretty nice car. I know about the 318 but it looked like it was a factory piece. Thanks again, bob

What color is it? I know of a couple of Mexican Dart GTS' in California and one was for sale last year. They all came with 318 4-bbl engines and rallye dashes! There are a couple other oddities not seen in the U.S. and Canadian Darts.

That is a Mexican Dart GTS.

I bet it was the green one that was at Spring Fling on Saturday. Or he was selling another one. I know he had a 69 Mexican GTS for sale a while back. He lives in Ventura county. He has a red Dodge "Valiant Super Bee" survivor built in/for Mexico. Nice guy.

Preston, were you at Spring Fling??

I was at spring fling but I didn't see the car there it was in a parking lot in Camarillo which is in Ventura county. It is green and I'm sure it was the same car. One other thing it had a decal of some sort in the rear window from Mexico. I just thought it was interesting because I had never seen one before. Bob

The Mexican cars that I have seen don't have VINs anything like the US and Canadian cars.
