Guys,
I noticed that Mason Dixon dragways (and I'm sure many others) requires for all cars to be able to de-energize the ignition system with a positive on/off switch.
I can mount a toggle switch to my dash, but what is the best way to satisfy this requirement?
For example, is it acceptable to just tie one of the leads of the switch to GND and the other lead to one side of the coil? If so, which side? Or doesn't it matter?
Or they expecting something more complicated?
Thanks!
Tim...

If your talking about the battery cut off switches on the rear of the car they are ONLY required if you have mounted the battery in the trunk If your battery is in the stock location you do not need a external cut off switch, unless your track requires it ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scope.gif)

I think you are referring to the master kill switch at the back of the car... this is mandatory when you move the battery to the trunk.... usually you open the hot lead to the ignition ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

I don't think that is what it means, but I could be wrong...
Here is the exact statement:
Each car in competition must have a positive-action on/off switch, capable of de-energizing the entire ignition system, in good working order, located within easy reach of driver. This sounds like something that needs to be used in the case of a major gas leak...
Anybody?
Thanks!

If thats the case, the key or a toggle switch is all thats needed... but thats for the driver... all track personnel will hit the master at the rear of the car (needed only if the battery has been moved to the trunk) if not then the driver or track person will have to reach into the car... makes a big difference to what he is actually asking ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)
