Continuing to clean and slowly put correct. Daily driver so concentrating on basics first. Replaced the magnum 500's with these cragars I had and it rides soooo much better plus looks better in my opinion. Replaced front shocks, rerouted hood pin cables, put on front windshield trim and reset wiper arms today. Tomorrow I'll tackle dash wiring issues.
Car was painted in a backyard in the early 90's and he liked the later Roadrunner stripes and airbrushed them on. Color is FJ5 and looks good on car but found out today factory color wasn't green as thought but bahama yellow.

Nice car! Love the 71's. Bahama Yellow, you HAVE to paint it. Besides, I HATE the 72 stripes on a 71. Are the hood stripes coded on your fender tag?
I'm thinking of driving my 71 GTX this summer. (Transferring the plates off of my 71 RR) It's a numbers matching Black 4spd Dana car that is currently painted pearl white with cheezy flames. I was planning on restoring it first, but I think it would be more fun to bomb around in it the way it is first.
Any pics of your 4spd GTX? I'm thinking of getting my GTX out and ready for some light cruising. I bought it to restore, but its been in storage since 1998!

Have not located fender tag yet. Was told it might be in one of the boxes of parts I received...it does have the fender tag screws still there but no tag under hood. Not holding breath on finding tag either but hope find it. The guy liked the roadrunner look and 72 style stripes I guess lol. Will probably go bahama yellow down road when repainted but going to try and stay out of body for now and just drive heck out of...it's my everyday driver.
Fixed speedometer issue today...seems you HAVE to put the male cable end into the little hole to make it work lol not just screw onto trans. Also, fixed heater issues with a new heater control valve and rehooked up vacuum lines. Soooooo nice being able to control temp and where it comes out now. Car is coming along nicely.

Gives excuse to make her look even better. Could have been alot worse. Isn't deterring me yet lol.
Well, that's good to hear. I posted this same thing in the SRT8 Belvedere thread, "The best part about making repairs is that you can improve what you had done to the car before."

Well took some military leave and was going to replace driveline. That's on hold. Since damaged trunk awhile back and car got hit with some massive hail during thunderstorms in St Louis MO I decided to just go ahead and repaint car. Have been working but off getting ready and is just about there now. Going with a more correct 71 FJ6 Sassy Grass than the old FJ5 that was on it. Ordered new GTX stripe kit also to get away from the 72 roadrunner theme last guy had going on. Figured better use of free time to do this than driveline...which I am going to try and knock out after a couple weekends after painted. Wish me luck. Son refers to sassy grass as Ski Green
I have to say I am soooo proud of my 8yo son Anthony. He has been right there by dads side while at bodyshop. Every day has been at least 7hr days and he has not complained once. He can DA, block sand and tape with the best of them, I am so proud. He has helped out greatly and his eyes have spotted defects ole dad couldn't see. Thanks buddy I love you.
