Building a 440 Cuda, and would like to know where to drill the holes for the emblems? Emblem says 'cuda440 and has 2 pegs. A picture would be fine, Thanks in advance.

Here is one nice pic, Hemi 'Cuda is Scott Smith's; owner of Harm's - and he's one of the top guys I'd be looking first to get even a moment of time in case you needed exact measurements or other Shaker info/install advice - unless you're in a hurry wait maybe Scott or any of the other esteemed members on our fine staff here at Moparts! can share the correct info over the weekend.

Maybe the exact measurements were already discussed in older Shaker threads here so try searching for any in the mean time see what other valuable Shaker info pops up...and it will 'pop' up in here! Enjoy that new Shaker hood.

I'll try and help out till Scott shows up here.

It's hard to get an accurate start point to measure from because of the contours of the scoop.
If you are using the two pin nameplate, obviously no need to drill the center shaker nameplate hole.

inside measurement is easier to go by.
On most repop scoops you can see where the drill areas are.

On my repop shaker there are dimples on the inside of the scoop showing where to drill the holes.

Hi,

Thanks for the props guys but I think there's some identity confusion, I have owned a Hemi Cuda but that's not my Hemi Cuda in that photo (I did take the pic though) that car belongs to Bart Stanco, I did a verification and appraisel for him a couple years ago. It's a low mile 1970 Hemi Cuda currently residing in Conneticut. That Shaker bubble is a MINT original 1971 unit that was put on the car after it was retired from racing, it should be painted Dark Argent, not Organosol Black as shown.

As mentioned by others, any decent reproduction bubble out there should have the 3 marks on the inside where the emblem holes should be, All original emblems I have ever seen had 3 pins (not 2) and the reproduction 2 pin style may have the 2 pins in slightly different locations as the originals, be sure to check before drilling. As far as dimensioning with no molded in reference marks on the inside, that's a pretty tall order since there aren't many straight lines to measure from. You might consider hooking up with someone who can let you look at thier original right next to your reproduction for a better check and balance.

*BTW, there's no better Shaker expert on this board than Mcannix (Terry McCann) should you need more wisdom on the subject

Trust me, I've learned as much from Scott and others as they have from me

Im no "Expert" but ive 3 oem that have the 3 holes and ive used the lower edge to index off of and all 3 have been the same with all 3 holes in positioning.

Ive a nos unit thats not drilled for the studs on the underside or the emblem, dont know if its marked inside.

I know the ones from shaker.com have two dots (the ones ive seen) inside but they seem off in position.

To me it seems pretty simple...get an oem unit, put a peice if white copy paper and put the bottom edge on the edge of the bubble, let it contour on up and mark your holes and you will have the correct spots to mark your aftermarket bubble, since the repops are so far off as it is, this will get you a hole position thats more correct then the rest of the repop unit.

If no one can get you measurements I can post my stone age method...but it works.

Alot of good smart people on this site, but all the ass kissing
