I need to buy new tires for my trailer.
It's a Halmark 24' enclosed. 15 inch wheel with the 5500 lb torsion axles.
I still have the cheapy tires that came with the trailer.
What would you buy?
I pull it about 1500 miles a year. With 4500 lbs or so.
Car plus other supplies.

Opinions needed.
Thanks

What year trailer?
Are the sidewalls cracked?
Trailer tires should be good for 7 years if kept properly inflated.
Longer if kept shaded from the sun.
I'm not an expert it's just my worth.

The tires are about 5 years old. They just seem cheap. meaning the side wall looks spungy, soft. Even with 45lbs of air.

45 lbs of pressure sounds like you have the 215x15 C rated tires, I had one trailer that came with them I use the 225x15 D or E rated tires now on my 24 ft. Pace It weighs 8650 lbs on the local truck scales hook to the truck and it puts around 1200 lbs more weight on the rear axle of the truck I've had bad issues with trailer tires, blow one out on the drivers side on a narrow road and you'll want the best tires you can get

Yelp. You are right. i do believe they are C rated.

Oh, I hate changing tires while on the road.

Go to a true trailer tire with the highest rating
you can find or afford... being a 15" you are limited
some but you should be able to find E rated... I went
with a Goodyear trailer tire... but there are plenty
of choices.... stay away from Carlisle

Firm believer in Goodyear trailer tires. Start with ST in the size.

Too bad you have 15" on your 24'. It needs 16" wheels for that size trailer.

Did you know Goodyear recomends 10psi over what the pressure should be for speeds over 65 mph. Everyone goes over 65 at least for a little while like when passing.

My 15" tires on my open trailer say 50 psi and have run them at 60 psi, 17K miles last sumer and 18K in 2009 without any problems, none.

I have the wheels off of it right now doing the bearings and they look great after 2 summers and 35K miles.

Stick 10 pounds of air in em over what the sidewalll says and have a good trip.

I also ran 16" Goodyears on my 49' enclosed, ran over 100k miles with that trailer, went though 2 sets of 6 on it and NEVER had a flat, never.

Always checked the pressure before every trip, trailer fenders are expensive on a Gold Rush trailer. Low Pressure and CURBS is what causes tires to fail. So I hope you can see why I like American made Goodyears.

also! lol

FYI, I had a good, never used 16" E rated spare for my 26' Pace that I kept in the trailer or in a garage. When I did finally put it on after about 8 years, the tread peeled off after less than 2000 miles! Just because it looks good doesn't mean it is. There is a way to interpret tire code dates, but I don't know how or where to find it off hand.

Maxxis also makes an E rated tire. I believe in always going with a higher rating that is actually needed. That said, they're all made in China anyway.

Not impressed with the carlisle's that replaced the Duro's that came on my trailer. They seemed sized small for the listed tire size, and not holding up near as well

It used to always amaze me when I went to the Mopar Nationals... I'd always see guys at our hotel hauling NICE cars on trailers with SH#T for tires!!! I'm talkin' about four unmatched wheels and tires that looked like they came out of a junkyard!

I'm due for new tires on my open trailer soon. They are ten years old now. Still somewhat decent tread depth, put a nasty wear pattern that I can only assume comes from how I've been jack knifing it around (tight turning it around) in my driveway since it was new.
