I agree, same product. A 5gallon bucket is cheaper than evaporust though @ 90 bucks.

I used Evaporust allot, works especially well on small parts. The biggest downsides I see are that it loses it's strength pretty fast and if the part is not absalutely clean of grease or grime it doesn't do much to the dirty areas. Normally not an issue but some parts are not so easy to completely degrease before using it. Notice how the parts they chose look like pretty clean parts with dry orange rust? That's what it works best on.

Had to jump in here and testify.. I LOVE my Evapo-rust. I bought 20 gal a while back to dip a FE block in and was shocked at how well it worked. However I totally agree that it losses its power too fast but still love it.

Anybody use vinegar besides me? It's not fast, which can be an advantage - no more exposure than needed. Besides, there are always other things to work on during the soak. This piece was in vinegar overnight followed by wire brushing, and then half a day, followed again by wire brushing. There's still a small amount of rust showing, but that will be easily fixed. The price is right - pennies.

Another photo of fasteners that were soaked in vinegar and wire brushed. Works for me.

There is a local small company that makes all sorts of chemical cleaners and will sell small quantities on a "cash" basis to the public. I buy a gallon of their generic "evap-o-rust" for $20 and dilute it 4:1 to make the equivalent of the evap-o-rust concentration. Can you see the profit in evap-o-rust !!! To make the equivalent of Metal-prep I dilute it 80:1 !!!
