So I’m rapidly approaching the stage of my stroker build where I need to decide what oil pan I want to use.
I’m also about to hit the wall on my budget.
Anyway, the motor is a fairly mild 360 based 410 going into a 72 Roadrunner street car that will probably see some play time at the strip. Initially, the top end will remain pretty much stock, so performance expectations are modest.
So my choices are a stock pan (no baffles) w/windage tray, Milodon stock replacement (w/ minimal baffle) w/ windage tray, and Kevko 6 qt (w/ or w/o windage tray).
I’m looking to maintain a near stock appearance, so a big honkin’ pavement draggin’ 8 qt pan hanging down is not on the option list.
I’d like to use the Kevko pan, but it will definitely strain the budget further. Looks like a nice piece for the money, but is it necessary at this performance level? I know the stock pan is marginal at best, but I can’t see being able to pull the kind of hole shot that would uncover the pick-up.
Also, is there any value to running a windage tray with the Kevko? Will one even fit? There is a big debate in the race only section over the value of windage trays, so I’m not looking to rehash that here.

I can fix it... my old man is a television repairman. He's got the ultimate set of tools... I can fix it.

I went with the milodon stock replacement with baffles for mine and omitted the windage tray. I heard ther may be clearance problems with the tray and the stroker crank, plus my block was align honed with main bolts and u din nit want to re do it for the studs. I just painted it to match the block. Scott
