Well, after about a 2 year absence I am back to working on my E-bodies. I have a 74 Challenger 360 that needs a radiator, and searching didn't find what I thought used to be a sticky .....

I need an aluminum , universal mount ok, with Auto trans cooling ( All I see at Summit are Manual trans units) and standard smallblock ports. I have a "smallblock side" water pump for the potential drop-in 440, so I can see if the old 360 runs ok before swapping to the bigblock.

So, is there an option besides the Sum-381425 unit? Planning on running an electric puller fan.

Thanks for any help

Allen

There is a guy selling them on here. Check in the parts for sale section. I haven't used one of his but I have seen a lot of good comments about them. Good Luck Ronnie

Not sure on your questions.....the pic of that rad shows trans cooler fittings and the description says 1/4" NPT (you could always run a separate cooler also) Not sure what small block side means....but I have a Summit 2 core aluminum in my BB 69 B'cuda w/ pass side outlet.....works fine. You'll have to fab or modify some type of shroud. Hope this helps!

Thanks

I think the thread fittings are for an electric pump? Says manual trans and needs external trans cooler, unless I read it wrong.

That so-cal vendor's rad sounds like the ticket, drain and cooling lines, would love feedback from members who run one....

Thanks

Allen

I have a listing on the classified section. We have have had excellent success with Champion radiators. They offer everything you are looking for, and require little, if any, modification to have a direct bolt-in.

PM me if you want more details. My son and I have been running them in all our classics with great success.

I have a 26" 4-core champion radiator in my car, and I can barely keep it up to the 180* thermostat temp. I like it.

If you are ok with or have some one that can do fab work, you can't beat this price. I have one in my Duster with a mechanical fan and 160 degree t-stat and I have NO cooling issues. I had a friend weld some tabs to the rad so I could mount it to my core support.

1-800 radiator for a copper/brass radiator.

I bought an AFCO brand universal 2-core aluminum rad off ebay. It's been great to me so far.

Good to know. I have a champion 3 row radiator for a corvette that I am fitting into my gen3 dakota. It's a nice piece for only 200 bucks.
Everyone I have talked to seems to be happy with them.

I just installed a 4-row Champion in my Demon (22"). I still have cooling problems, but I am convinced now it is the cam, not the cooling system. I never had problems until I put this cam in. Anywhooooo...the Champion is all aluminum and it is all tig welded with a billet neck, also tig welded on. It is a VERY nice piece -- I paid $282 to my door off ebay. Here are a couple of pics -- BTW -- I had to use a 16" puller fan offset to the driver's side to avoid hitting my water pump pulley. A 16" fan on the water pump will hit the upper radiator hose, so electric is about the only way for me to go now. I know, I know...a shroud is in store eventually. LOL! I will probably eventually swap out the single 16" with a dual 10" high velocity pusher. Time and money...
