I picked up what I think is a set of NOS/original inner and outer shaker cables. Can someone post a picture of the correct cable ends or other noticeable differences between factory originals and the repops? Thanks

Sorry I don't have any pictures for you, but one easy way to tell is that their is small blue writing down the length of the black sheath that covers the cable both long and short. It should say "teleflex covered by US and Foreign patents" which is repeated the whole length of the black sheath covering.

Their also seems to be a unique way each end is crimped to the black sheath, where most repos that I have seen do not have this type of crimping.

Lastly, I have been told (which I am not sure if this is true) that the original long cable will spin 360 degrees inside the sheath whereas the repos do not??????

What is the total length of the long and short cable you have, furthest point each way??

What Jason says above is basically correct.
The Teleflex writing is on every original short cable I have seen.
I have not seen enough long ones to comment on the Teleflex writing.
Here's a couple things to watch for all on the long cable.
Again I have not seen that many originals but the ones that I have had or examined all had the following characteristics.
The hole for the rod on originals is round as compared to some repops I have seen that have a flat spot on the top where rod inserts.
The round boss is also different.
Repop on left, original on right.

There is an additional pad found on the mounting tab as seen here whereas todays repops dont have that.
Also the step down is more significant on the originals verses repops

The most common difference in todays' repops is the underside mounting area. Notice the groove in the repop top cable and the lack thereof in the original. Plus the repop has a more square body.
Four small round die tabs are seen on the repop, not on original with a smooth face

If all this seems helpful, you may not be out of the woods just yet. Todays' repops are all completely manufactured as shown in the comparisons above.
The company that first started reproducing shaker cables over 20 years ago, used to buy used vent cable ends from 70 E and 68-70 B-bodies of which some have the same characteristics in the body as original long shaker cable.
They would then fabricate the cable sheath, and cable and attach both.
When that supply dried up they used to buy 80's K-car vent cable ends which have a slotted mounting opening instead of the two round holes.
I remember a case of someone trying to pass one of those off once as an NOS original, and succeeding on E-bay for an outrageous price.
So, although not likely, what you may have is an early vent cable reproduction shaker cable.
The only way to check that, if you have the jam..., is to peel back the decal a bit.
This is what the rear of an original "CARB AIR" decal looks like, goldish tint appearance from the glue used to glue it on.
No repop decal appears like that underneath...yet.

Last, if you have seen enough real cables, the CARB AIR on the decal like this original, is distinguishable if you look at it long enough, from the repros today.

Based on what I've seen Terry is right on the money on all accounts. Concerning the Teleflex markings on the long cables, I've seen a dozen or so originals, every on had the lettering.

*Terry, those "Die Tabs" you mentioned are referred as "Ejector Pin Marks" within the molding industry, they are small round pins located inside the plastic injection mold which are spring loaded and pass through the mold, when the mold opens the springs release and advance the pins away from the mold cavity ejecting the part from the mold automatically so that a person does not have to pull them out between machine cycles.

Scott..I knew I had the terminology wrong there, thanks for clarifying.
Would it make you cringe if I told you when I first visited Fram in the early 80's that they had just months before, purged an inventory of 1500 factory original shaker cables!

Terry and Scott-Thanks for the great info as usual. From what I've learned here is that I have a set of the early repops using B body cables I'm guessing. There is no writing on either cable and neither has the mold/pin marks on the cables.Buit the long/inside cable does have the correct round hole that the metal rod slides into and the correct mounting bosses and underside details as the original that Terry posted. The grommet on the long cables does have the correct Chrysler/part number on it.Thanks again for the info
