I was just wondering if my old wiring system will handle my new hemi alternator output? Will there be any kind of a fire hazard or other problems, running the new higher output alternator through my old school set-up. It is an 04 5.7 going into an E-body, if that should matter.

No it will not . There have been threads about upgrading the circuit .

Does that mean no it will not be a problem, or no it will not handle it?

Run the 12v output high amperage wire directly to the battery. Do not run it through the bulkhead.

Hopefully this answers your question.

No it will not handle it without upgrades to the system.

Ok, I tried a couple of different searches with no luck. What upgrades would be required, or does someone have a link to a good thread that pertains to this? I've had mopar electrical problems that cost me a car in the past, and I don't want this one to burn up.

This is what you need to do. The truck alternator will produce maybe 100 amps. Run the trucks original B+ (4 gauge) wire directly to the positive side of the battery. If you are worried about a short to ground, then fuse the circuit with a 100 amp fuse from a radio store or equivalent.

If not equipped use a 4 gauge wire from alternator to battery.

I am not sure how an E-body is set up originall, but you could not use the stock ammeter (if originally equipped) to measure output. The ram truck alternator would be too much and the stock wire is undersize.
