I listed my cuda forsale, and when I looked at the competition I noticed my standard dash speedo face was different than the other guys.
I noticed I have the directional arrows in the face of the gauge itself, did not notice on the others. I also have a different font on the numbers (looks more modern).
when did they have a running change of the face?
Just was puzzled, I never knew they had different face styles for a 71 standard dash speedo face throughout the model year. I do have a late build car.
Is the dash face change known?

Hard to tell what you're refering to without pics....But the 70 challenger had a different standard gauge cluster...Here's a pic challenger on the bottom...

Or custom gauges are also a possibility...But I'm betting your 71 cluster looks like the one in the above challenger pic and the one in question is a 70 cluster in an early 71....Speaking of custom gauges I came across this one in my files...

That might explain the speedometer, but what about the 10,000 rpm tach?

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

That kilo set is also from 72-74 and not 70-71.

I was to say 10K rpms, maybe because it was from an Hemi equipped car ?

but if 72 and lates makes no sense.

however, I could say more is simply a RALLYE cluster for E body and not the standart one with just one Big gauge ( speedo )

and if so, makes some sense being a 70/71 rallye cluster on an Hemi E body car build for export

makes sense ?

Mine looks like the top one in your picture.

here are 2 examples of cars on the market:

Maybe the 70 gauges went into 71 model year til used up?

or they used a clean more plentiful 70 dash to restore their cars?

I would think someone would know if the 70 gauges were used for some time in the 71 model year....

now what I find very interesting is the resetable counter on the "240KPH" speedo

Crazy is'nt it ??? ...I've saved some of those pics over the years for conversation pieces...But it does serve a valid point of the fact that people have swapped gauges around and some don't catch it... BTW the guy claimed the rallye speedo was caliberated for MPH, not KPH...

so what IS the correct speedo for a 71 (standard dash)?
Did they build with 2 versions or just one?

Does anyone know for sure?

71 cuda expert? where are you?

You have what is technically the 71-up standard cluster...Some early 71s probably got the 70 left-over clusters which is what you're seeing in the link you've provided...

What is that out of, and how was it able to be ordered? I've never seen a 150 mph speedo in a standard cluster.

I honestly can't remember where I got this pic. I would assume it's either a custom gauge or maybe a km/h export? 160km/h would equal 100mph. 150 kph is close.

I just saved the pic because it looked odd and out of place. Might have come from ebay.
