I went out today to find 2 dead batteries. There is nothing on in the racecar. Is there a way that a Toyota alternator can discharge 2 deep cycle marine batteries in 48 hours?

I have seen this quoted,,,,,

"300mA or More of Current Drawn When Motor is Off"

Did you have the master switch off... if you did, either
they werent charged up OR you have 1 or both bad
batteries(possible shorted cell) also being that you
run a alt you should run a NON deep cycle type battery

They were fully charged, but I forgot to throw the disconnect. I had 2 new deep cycles before I added the alternator. They are still less that one year old.

A 1/3rd of an amp is a pretty good draw, but the only way to know for sure is to put an amp meter on it once the battery's are charged up again.

Yep... pull the pos cable and put the amp gauge between
the post and the cable to check it(engine off)...
but to kill 2 batteries in 48 hours you will have a
pretty good draw

I took the charge wire off of the battery(wire to alternator) and left the battery disconnect on overnight. No loss in batttery voltage overnight. So, it must have something to do with my alternator.

hook up the output wire and see if the alt gets warm just sitting without running the engine, if so the internal reg may be bad
