It has been awhile since I have posted here, but I still visit from time to time! Several years ago there was a post with plenty of pics on how one of the members converted his (or his Son's) 70 Coronet flat hood to a bulge hood. He grafted the bulge section from a rusty hood onto the flat one - and did a damn fine job of it. I am faced with the same project and was hoping someone may have those pics floating around...

Never hurts to ask!!

I did the same very thing.............KINDA, I took a VERY NICE (original paint even!) Superbee hood and cut the buldge out of it and grafted it onto a 67 Sport-Fury hood. Totally changed the looks of a big boat into something cooooool. I still have the car and the hood just need to put it back together.

High Impact, that looks awesome!

I'd do a Ramcharger hood if you want to clone it. They look so much meaner!

High Impact, that looks like good work! Do you have any pointers, tips or lessons learned from the project? I have done all the paint and body on my car, so the basics isn't an issue. I just haven't ever done skin grafting on a hood before!

I cut a hole in the hood almost the size of the scoop. Then I placed the scoop over the hole which overlapped on the hood about 2.5 inches all the way around, then I drilled a ton of holes all the way around the scoop perimiter and then started spot welding it to the hood, jumping back and forth till all of the holes were done. It really took some time to do! Next the "kitty hair" filler went on and then the finishing coat of mud. I had a ton of time into doing this hood but its held up really well, and I did it my senior year in school and I've been out 18 years! Not bad work for a punk kid!

Take your time and once you think it's blocked and ready for paint....................do it again twice!

Thanks! I seem to remember the members name was Ron - but I could be wrong. Anyone else have an idea?

That actually looks pretty good, usually I dislike attempts at putting a scoop on a Charger..
