Ok the 340 is done for the challenger Now My brother is working on getting this other 340 built for his 72 charger, and Kinda looking for ideas for a cam etc, thinking solid roller? It will be a 416 with a eagle crank, eagle rods, J.E Pistons for a 10.1 comp with edelbrock heads, Probably just stock as their bought?, A Rpm Air gap Intake, or a single plane? 770 avenger? Headers,3:91 sure grip, auto with probably 10" 3500-3800 stall? Would still be steet driven, as well as taken to the local drag strip too. Welcome any and all Ideas!

Stock Edelbrock Springs aren't good for much. If you want to run a solid roller you'll need to upgrade springs, locks and retainers.

I have a very similar setup to you using a 360/408. Out of the box edelbrock heads hyd flat tappet and 1.6 rockers. I went with a racer brown ssh-25 238/238 @ 0.50 and stock edelbrock springs. From what I can tell this brings ne right to the limit of the heads. I did have to do some clean up on the ports to smooth them out. Sorry I can't comment on the roller. Scott

I have the comp cam #20-231-4 in my 410" stroker with Hughes 1.6 roller rockers in an a-body. Also have a serious traction problem.

I recommend our 251 cam: 251-260@ .050, .580-.560 lift with 1.6 rockers, on a 108lca. With an unported eddy head it should make around 460-470Hp with 10.2:1 compression, 750 holley DP, rpm intake with a 1" open spacer and TTI or similar header. With porting it can make 520+HP! Brian

You'll need more spring than what the eddy heads come with...around 140lbs. closed and 340lbs. at .560 lift.
Where is that cam installed at then? That sounds like a pretty rowdy cam on a 108? He will still have power brakes, will need a booster? What size conv? part number for the springs and rockers?

Throw it all out the window with a stroker. It will likely have a noticeable idle with a 108º CL, but the fact is, a cam that's "big" in a 360 is "meh" in a 408. I ran the same cam in 2 different builds...one 360 and one 408. Cam was 254º @ .050" .525" solid on a 110ºLSA. The 360 had a real rumpy idle. The 408 sounded a lot more stock-ish...smoother idle, more vacuum...both cams installed straight-up. Fact is that the longer arm really eats up duration.

For what it's worth. I put my 416 together way before the craze was in full swing. My bud and I built ours with 308 swirl port heads (from a late '80s to early '90s wrecked trucks), worked/with 202/160's, porting/matching. A Mopar 508 cam, hydralic lifters, 1.6 roller rockers, Mopar M1 intake, Quick Fuel 950 carb. .30 over bore, 4.0 crank, 9.75 compression. Cars run low 11's to 10.80's all day long. Good luck.

That is an awesome cam with this combination, and its what I run on my 408/360 with a single plane intake and a Proform 850 carb. The all steel Cuda has been in the 10's with that set-up, and for what it is, it flies.
