I am getting ready to install my line locks and the installation diagram does not match what I see on the car. The car is a 74 Dart Sport.

Here is the install diagram:

Here is what I have, I have in red what I think I need to do. Am I close or do I have something figured wrong?

You have the same type of block? I wasn't sure which line supplied the front, I assumed it was the one that went in the top.

I'd have to look. All I did was take the line from the front brakes and ran it to the line lock, and a new line from the line lock to the prop valve.

Which reservoir on the MC feeds which set of brakes?

The back one typically feeds the front brakes.

Thanks, I think I'm on the right track. I just want to be sure so I get it right the first time.

Any other opinions? I'm going forward today or in the morning, so I want to get it right.

Never used one back in the day all we did was back off the rear brakes, LOL.

I think the reason the first diagram is recommended is that when the line lock is activated there is no pressure on either side of the proportioning valve.

The way you are proposing when you take your foot off the brake there will be no pressure on the rear side in the proportioning valve and pressure on the forward side of the proportioning valve.

Might actually be more of a problem in the distribution block as supposedly there is some sort of shuttle valve that can be jammed if there is pressure on one side and not the other, it will think you have a brake failure in one of the lines. At least that is what I have gathered. It seems that a lot of people run it the way you have suggested with no problems though.

Caveat emptor.

In the installation diagram it shows the proportioning valve separate from the distribution block. In my car there is only one solid block on the inside front frame rail. Is it possible the top is the distribution block and the bottom section is the proportioning valve?

Do you have drums all around? Only disc brake cars have the proportioning valve. I think the installation diagram is correct in that regard. Our 70 RR only has the distribution block, essentially as you describe it, and it is 4 wheel drums.

Thanks Rocky, so you have the same block? It was confusing, the difference between the two. I just don't want to have to do it twice.

Go on the hurst web site go from the master cylinder to distribution block come out from there into the Line lock the T the front brakes. Mine did not work all that well going into the dist block first. and bleed the crap out of the system. when you tink you have it good do it one more time. Mine now works like a charm. I can take my car up to 3000 rpm before it trys to push thru.

Thank you
Kiddart

Unfortunately none of those diagrams match what I have in the car. Does your car have the same block I have illustrated above?
