I took the plunge and put an 8 point, chrome moly roll bar in my Road Runner. I need to paint the bar. I'm looking for suggestions for the type of paint to use. I want to paint it a glossy black to match my interior. Any suggestions on paint? Thx

I'm going to paint my chassis with POR-15 type paint
but I'll use a different brand which is suppose to
have a UV protection.... alot of the semi trucks use
it.... I will have the name of it tomorrow

I went through a small disaster a few years ago on roll bar paint. I had done some work touching up some spots and grabbed some black off the shelf in the garage. Turns out it was engine paint. Later after rebuilding some of the chassis to update the cert to 25.2 I started to priming. The primer was a quality primer from the automotive paint store. It was a spray can deal. Man it was a real mess. I had a date to get certified. The inspector said he had done the same thing years ago on a roadster. Looked like crackel. I stripped everything. Reprimed ant painted with the best spray can stuff I could find. Was only about twice the price of Rustoleum so it was well worth the expense. Finally got it straight. Save some trouble and buy the best you can find. I forget the name but the primer was supposed to be the same quality as the three part primers you spray in a paint gun. It really worked great. I'm thinking it was called K2 but not sure.

I just finished painting my trans for my drag week
car and used Chassis Saver but found out that it isnt
a UV blocker .... its just like POR-15 just cheaper
and alot of the semi trucks use it.... just paint it
on bare metal... I'll check it out in a few hours to
see what it looks like... if it turns out like they
I'll use it on the chassis also but the cage will
still need a UV clear enamel over it
