Hi Guys,
I have a newbie question on Six-Pack throttle linkage ....

On the setup in the picture, the two Outboard Carbs are connected together at the Center Carb through that pair of horizontal rods which meet at the center's throttle lever (center arrow). But when I work the throttle lever on the Center carb the outboard carb's linkage doesn't move at all. Should it be moving along with the Center's?

Also, if I go to the throttle tabs (identified by the two outermost arrows in the pic), and try to work them manually, they don't move at all.... Is something wrong here or am I just on the wrong track with thinking that the outboards are operated this way? The car actually runs ok, so I must just be unaware of something here.

Sorry for the newbie question.. just trying to get my mind wrapped around how this stuff works in the Six-Pack world. I do have the Vacuum components on the opposite side of the outboards...in case that is a factor in this question.

Thanks!

The outboard are vacuum operated , but with the center carb at WOT , engine not running , you should be able to open the outboard carbs .

Sometimes the throttle blades on the outboards can stick shut. This was an issue with the early models, but can happen to any of them when they are left shut for a long time. Corrosion etc can cause them to stick and bind.

As the previous post points out, with the car not running- open the center carb all the way, now try opening the outboard cabs by moving the outboard linkage/tabs to their wide-open position. All 3 carbs should open smoothly and without sticking or binding. When the center carb is closed, it's linkage will shut the outboards too.

Thanks a lot for the answers! I will check this out in a few days when I get over to where the car is garaged. If the linkage tabs for the Outboards are still sticking (even at WOT on the center) what is the best approach to fixing? Would it be a few shots of Carb cleaner on the linkage itself or down the carb throat on the outboards? Or does this require the carb to come off and apart?

Thanks a lot!

Carb cleaner is not a lubricant , thats what you should use , a lubricant on the shafts .

As far as how to fix it ... I can't see them from here so I have no clue as to what the problem could be and the fix required .
