I have a set of Eddy heads that have been on my car a while. I bought them 2nd hand years ago.

Well a few years back one started leaking in the intake port thru the water jacket filling # 2 with water.

I had it welded it lasted a little while then epoxied it a couple years ago that lasted a while then it happened again I epoxied it with a different epoxy and ceramic seal lasted all year.

I was going to adjust the rockers yesterday to get it ready for the season. found water in #2 again. Ripped the head off and sure enuff leaking from that port again. it's in such a hard spot I don't think it can be welded properly

So now my Question is Do I try and bandaid it again or toss them and get a new set.

What could ya come up with for $2 k to spend

I have a 600 lift cam so the stock eddy springs would be useless to me. I could use the ones off my current heads they are pretty recent

Thanks

Phil

I have looked at them but I'm trying to avoid adding 50 lbs to the car going with an iron head.

Why they didn't make those heads out of aluminum is beyond me

I have had heads coated in the water passages with a goodson product that is designed to seal seaps & leaks, then head is baked in an oven to set up the sealer. If you check aroung locally a performance machine shop might be able to do the job . This has worked well for me but I dont know how much your heads leak. Good Luck!

We've done the Goodson "Seal all" on bunch of porous heads over the years. Really have to have water jackets well cleaned to get the stuff to stick, & it's tricky stuff to get to cure correctly time/temp wise in oven. It does work, but is not as user friendly as they like to advertise.

I've never seen a SB E head leak water, have only heard of 1 set before that had a leak in intake port. Must have gone crazy on them to get near a water jacket in the short turn area?

Obviously your cheapest & easiest way to go is just repair what you have now.

$2K these days won't even get you a pair of ported LA Edelbrocks... brand new bare set from Summit is $1200 with no valve job, guides are unhoned, no surface job etc.

if only 1 is leaking why not just buy 1 new head?

These heads have some port work done to them.

So it's not as easy as just buying one.

is it just a pinhole? or is it a crack?
You might try with a hammer and a small chisel(sp) to "forge" it then use epoxy. Have worked on a pair of hemiheads for me that where welded but had some pinholes.

BTW a pro welder can make it leakfree but i know its not easy.
