I would like to hear from racers using caltracs, rancho shocks and split mono's on a street car.

I have them on my Australian valiant charger. I originaly started out with the rancho shocks set on number 9 position, the car was to stiff in the rear and handled really bad around corners. I changed them to number 5 position and not much better, then to 1 position and the car handles similar to how it was, when original.

I wondered what would happen if you have them on the 9 position and your car got sideways at the strip at high speed.

Change ya pants is what would happen!! LOL

You would have to considerably increase the likleyhood of roll over due to very little suspension movement......

I dunno, never had that happen yet. I don't have much choice though since mine hooks the best w/ em at 9. I typically loosen them up on the street though.

Chip they obviously work well at the strip, but are dangerous on the street, when cornering and going over rough pavement.

I am happy with the product, but you need to loosen bars and shock settings when driving on the street.

Never had a problem myself. Had them on the car for 8 or 9 years now w/ a LOT of street miles. I never back off the preload on the bars. Saying they are dangerous on the street is a bit of a stretch.

I'm w/ Chip on this, since I have them and run the on-track settings driving on the street, too.

I look at it like this... my Challenger's a street car that's optimized for going fast from a dead stop in a straight line at the track. If I want to go around a corner fast(er) on the street, I park the Challenger and drive my WRX, instead. It's like the old Dirty Harry saying: "A man's got to know his limitations."

Thanks guys, I just found the problem, TYRE PRESSURE. I put 32 psi in the et street radials at a servo, i just rechecked them with a good quality gauge, and got 26psi. I bumped them up to 40 psi, just for the time being and the car is driving really well.
The max pressure rating on the tyres is 44 psi, what are you guys run yours at on the street. thanks in advance Rob.

I have this exact setup...I don't feel that it's dangerous on the street. Besides....turning the valving down only takes seconds to do.

i leave my caltracs preloaded.i also found the car rides nicer on the street with ranchos on 5.but on the track i normally use 5 or 6.tyre pressures - i run 30psi on the street,275/60/15 et street radials.i think MT recommend this as a maximum?

Thanks Tex, I have a very lite preload on the bars and the rancho's on setting 5 also. These chargers don't like to be to stiff in the rear. I tried more pre load and the car didn't respond. I also tried ranchos on 9 and the ride was to rough and to much understeer.

I live in the mountains and have 50km of winding roads, its like having your own race track.
