I used moroso brackets, springs, and buttons.Worked out nice but just did a custom rail for 2000 Firebird for his lift off and would do that instead now.I like the way it looks and can put fastners where I want and can contour the hood better.Don't use alum rivets I made that mistake and lost the hood a 120 or so.The rivets sheared after 30 or 40 passes.

Regular pins are BESTer .... and far more durable and more holding "power". And if the hood is made right and braced properly ....you don't need that many of them.
Dzuz are slow on slow off and prone to making you scratch the paint no matter how hard you try not to do it. pins are my choice especially in case of an emergency like seeing smoke
But they are UGLY............ JMO

Damn BigCube ... it must take you 20 minutes to get all those fasteners loose to get hood off ! ...and it sure looks like you could have used one of those hoods with the rear cowl section.
The cowl covers the removable panel, plus it's a good place to hide the gauges. The way my chassis was built the stock vent grate was a leak into the interior. The removable panel also closed off a water leak AND made room for the air cleaner.

Much as I hate to agree with Doc Fibberglass, I have to go with pins as well. My Dzus adventure would have killed someone had I not been as far down the track when they let go.
Pins from here on out for me. Ugly? Maybe. Safe? Definitely.
HATE to agree with 'da Doc ?
You should be HAPPY .... you are finally doing-some clear-thinking ..

On a serious note ....
I have seen single Dzus (on the corners) ...and then the whole SYSTEM fails and the whole panel exits the vehicle ... because there is so little holding-strength on a single Dzus.
I'll be using Dzus on my new hood... I use more than 4, my hood on the P has 10 was 12 with the old hood with the scoop attached but the scoop is separate now and mounts to the engine(with 3 Dzus) but its slow only 150

I have 4 Areocatch latches on the fiberglass deck lid on my 70 cuda, have them for the hood also but have not installed them yet. No pins or screw drivers to scratch your paint. I put a set of 4 on my buddy's chevy hood , it has a multi thousand dollar paint job. he loves them. He runs high 8"s at 150+ . Now with my paint job , a person would question my sanity. Great product, got them off e-bay from MiataRoadster.

I always liked them... but they're pretty pricey
