Recently got an 88 aries that on cold mornings the doors freeze shut and seem to frost on the inside. The weather is cold but not cold enough to do this. With the high quality door handles on this car its only a matter of time until one breaks.Short of moving to a warmer climate anyone have an idea to remedy this? On warmer days(low 40s) it also seems to form a heavy dew on the inside of the windows. Ive tried leaving the windows open a crack but that didnt help. any ideas? Thanks

do you have a dark interior? If so and the car is parked in sunlight it will cause the interior to heat up and when evening comes and temps cool down wherever the cold meets the warm windows door seals etc it will form frost and freeze. Simple solution either park it in a shaded area or cover it with a car cover. Now if you are running it with the heat on and park it do the same thing you will still get frost but not as bad. hope this helps. Just like the weather where warm and cold fronts meet you get precipitation and add some cold you get ice.

Leaky heater core will cause interior humidity to go sky-high.

Does the interior smell musty?

My bet is you have wet carpet or padding somewhere. Question is what is the source. If it is coolant you will know. If it is straight water, the windshield or cowl or something is leaking.

Pull the carpet out and dry it out good. While it is out, you can try and spot the leak in action.

I agree with the water leak causing high humidity on the interior, and thus the frost on the inside of the glass. As far as the frozen doors, try silicone spray on the weather strips and door latch/striker.I spray mine every fall, especially on the older cars.

You could also spray PAM cooking spray on the weatherstrips......
