What make a Hurst Competition Plus shifter better than a regular Hurst shifter? Which parts specifically are different?

I have one Comp Plus and one Mopar Bayonet-style Hurst one that I'm combining into one good one I can use and I don't want to leave the good bits on the workbench when I finish rebuilding it.

The plus usually has stops for the shifter gate.That and the internals are usually better.The pistol grip I have for my car came from a 71 GTX.I just used the handle and installed it on my 65s original plus shifter.Rocky

I have them both blown apart on the work bench right now and they both look really similar except for the shifter handle mounting assembly.

I haven't taken that apart yet because I wanted to make sure I could put it back together. Are the internals of that what make it different? Stiffer spring, etc?

The bayonet box I had was lighter than my 65 Plus box.That and it had no stops.I just opened the holes a bit so I could bolt it to the 65 box.The 65 Box shifted better than the later one also.Rocky

There has to be some actual part differences between a standard Hurst box and the Competition Plus, but does anyone actually know what they are?

The Plus has adjustable stops.

From what I have seen the Comp plus has shorter throws and the rods are bushed along with the positive stops.
