The connecting rod bearing Caps have a slot cut in
them across the mating face, which, according to the service manual,is to provide oil to lube the cylinder walls, but the Clevite bearings I'm using,
have no matching notch in the bearing edge to
allow oil to get to that slot.. Is this proper?
Should a small notch be cut into the bearing edge?
Somebody got a picture of how the bearing should be?? Help please-would like to get Pistons installed in Block tomorrow..

Most replacement bearings do not have this as they found it unnecessary, there is enough oil splash without the squirt hole. Put it together and rest easy.

Thanks for reply, feel better now. This is first Mopar I'm building, and I can't find diagram of
cylinder numbering in Service Manual. What's the
sequence? 1,3,5,7 on left bank(driver's side)and
2,4,6,8 right?? My name's Eric,and I am NOT as
smart as a 5th grader!!

I agree on the bearings, and yes you are correct on the cylinder numbering.

they stopped making the slot as they figured out that the walls get enough splash as is.
