I'm definatly a fan of the Andy F plate. Gives you room for dry sump setups, Relocate the alternator lower, along with strengthening your front frame rails. Mine durring mock up Look for Andy F here on Moparts!

Summit sales a 1/4 inch thick motor plate for full chasssis cars that sets the motor in the center, I have one that I'm going to use a stock front half car, I'll need to make the left frame bracket stick out a inch or so due to the motor being offset like stock, no big deal really I have used 1/4 inch thick elephant ears for years(bought from Bob Mazzolini) in A bodys, we would have the back of the water pump housing milled 1/4 inch so all the stock pulleys and brackets will work. The only thing you will need to change is the lower alternator adjuster arm and fan and alternator belt if you want to keep the stock alternator in the stock location BTW, I recommend usings studs on the block for the water pump and to locate the motor plate or elephant ears so you can change cam timing without having to support the motor with a jack or cherry picker later

Remember, if you go with a motor plate some kind of fore /aft limiter is needed.

A 1/4" plate is plenty thick. The Comp Engineering plates are bigger and solid (no cutouts) so you can cut it to fit however you want. Plus you have more room to mount stuff on it. I have one on my car w/ NO midplate. Just make sure you use a fore/aft limiter.

I have a 1/4" Plate (I think) and with out a limiter I can move the motor for and aft quit a bit due to the plate flexing.
I posted a thread a little while back on these and it has all kinds of pics and ideas.
If you can't find it I'll post a link or maybe some pics of mine when I get home from work later tonight.

AndyF makes the best plates because his plate has the factory offset built into them I also second the fore/aft engine limiter or you will bend even the best plate DAMHIK Gus
