I am in the process of reassembling the gauge face plates to their housings and was wondering how you crush the rivets that hold the faceplate to the housing? I tried using a punch but that didn't work very well. I have seen a tool called a rivet squeezer but I wasn't really sure if they would work in this application. Anybody have any other ideas or techniques? If the rivet squeezer is the tool to use could you let me know which one to buy? Thank you any information is greatly appreciated.

Put a radius on the end of a steel rod and then cut it off to the length needed. Place radius end over the speading end of the rivet and lightly squeeze with a pair of channel lock pliers. Note: you do not need to spread it much in order to hold.
