First time I took the wife to Pomona for the Winternationals, we were walking through the pits and some stock elimator cars were passing us when one of the people directing traffic said "oh man, smell that nitro"...befor I could even react my wife burst out laughing really loud...so loud the guy looked over at us and I could feel my face turning red from what he said AND what my wife did..

here are 3 that make me smile when I think about them.
1. at milan a couple years ago. Buddy and I are in the lanes, guy is there with a BAE blower motor in a funnycar chassis with a 23 T on it. Says it is the Ramchargers Duster and the body is in his shop. The motor was a 500cid alky burner. it was a BMF. Asked if he had run it yet, he was sturting like a peacock. Nope first time out with this motor. I asked if he brought a spare pair of drawers or a set of depends. I got a dirty look. His turn, up for a burn out. well lets just say he did a bracket style burnout and not the roll through the water and have at it as this car would do. Stages the car and hits it. was not in it half a second. got out of it and idles the rest of the way down. loaded it up and left. we asked the guys as they were loading if they broke, nope and a snicker was the answer....
2 at Houston's 1/8th mile track. in line for test and tune. Ricer night as it is every T&T. Said honda boy asks my then wife if the car was airbagged(tube chassis Duster). she laughs and says no it was built that way. He says, dang I should have bought an old car like that, I did not know that sat so low.
3 and one of my favs. Crewing for my buddies 6 second Camaro. We were in Reading, PA. car goes on the bars at 300ft. announcer goes crazy about it. I am loosening the belts and pulling the dash to get at the clutch can after the run. Younger guy comes up and asks if this is the Camaro that did the wheelie at 300 ft. I said yes it is. He then said it must be cool to drive it. I told him I did not drive it. Saving face he said it must be cool to work on in it. I was not trying to be mean, but replied yeah it is unless you are the one who has to clean the seat... He laughed, it was the reaction I was hoping for. He was cool hung out for an hour or so...

several yrs. ago on a test & tune night at milan i make a pass in the low 12's. ratty car in the other lane was several seconds slower, i'm thinking 15's or 16's. get back to the pits & other driver(20 something dirty kid) strolls over & in all seriousness says "i'd have beat ya if i was runnin' on all 8!" it was all i could do to keep a straight face so i just smiled & nodded & he continued on his way.

The first time I took my car out with the 434ci small block in it, I still had my 5.13's in the car from the 340, with a 28" tall tire. Someone asked me after I made a few passes "So ah, are you trying to get a tan off that shift light on the last half of the track?"
Another good one that made me laugh... One of my all motor buddies, asked one of my nitrous buddies, "So Brad, what does your truck run on motor." Brad responded with out any hesitation, "I don't know, what does your car run with out a carburetor?"
Another buddy has a funny little sticker on the door into his trailer. It is the little Calvin guy that is usually peeing on a logo. He has a confused look on his face and it reads "9 second street car lounge. You can only pee on what you can catch!"
Or how about before the whole fast and furious deal. Two buddies were out on a highway about to street race. One guy was busy on his lap top setting up his car. While the other guy was waiting. Next thing he knows there is a cop standing beside his door. Cop says "So ah, what are you guys doing out here?" "Oh, just blowing off a little steam" (wearing his helmet and all. haha. The cop went to leave and said, " you boys have fun, but make sure I don't get called out here tonight." As he was walking to his cruiser, someone else asked "Can we use your guy to start the race?" The cop looks toward town and says, "Better not, we are a little too close to town still"

Here's one of my fav's "My dad had a 440 HEMI" Another was "Why'd you put a Hemi in that thing" "You run that motor Too Hard"
I've heard the 440 HEMI a few times myself. My favorite is the "lifetime duration" cam shaft!

Nope - was another Mopar race. Still funny though! It was the semi-finals, so maybe it wasn't all that funny?!
