Another time I was leaning against the fender waiting for my class to be called, a guy came up and informed me that my boyfriend wouldn't like me leaning against his car.
I don't even have to ask if he was joking.........I've seen this. My better half did 99% of the driving in our first evolution as a race team. I'd run the occasional gamblers race or laps on a test day. Not too many took her seriously , but she put a lot of them on the trailer. Building a good working race car was a lot of satisfaction for me , but listening to guys cry after she tree'd them and sent them home was just icing on an already good cake. I have seen plenty of talented female drivers , and it isn't too hard to pick them out. If you are looking at them next to you in the third round , they probably aren't just lucky. It was an easy decision for us. This was the .500 tree days and she would routinely foot brake to 5 oughts to low 5 teens. If I could pull that off , I would have gladly driven. Most of the comments aren't fit to be printed here , but they would sure get mad.

at the track a couple of years ago, i was driving down the return road, and a guy i know was getting ready to make a run in a beautiful yellow '68 hemi charger. the owner/ financier has owned this car for many years, and put a bob mazolini (sp) hemi in it. what a beautiful, badass car! the best place to watch a run is from the return road (RIGHT next to the track- kinda scary), so i stop and crack my window. he launches, and sounds like he's shifting at 8000 plus rpm- i couldn't believe how tight he was winding that thing! back in the pits, i approached the driver and asked him a), how high are you revving that thing, and b), WHY? HE DIDN'T KNOW! he didn't know what he was revving it to. i was flabbergasted. he blew the engine up the following weekend at woodburn and almost lost the car. knucklehead. tragic. split the mega block right down the middle. i guess that's not funny. forget i brought it up.
for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

When asked what the engine was in my car: "It's got a 440 Wedge in it." And here's what I get back: "OH the one with the Hemi heads?"
