I have a B/E body type bolt-in driveshaft kit (bolts to back of transmission crossmember) and want to fit/adapt it to my 73 A-body.

They don't make a bolt-in driveshaft kit for the 73 and up A-bodies due to the spool transmission mount. Just wondering if anyone has ever adapted one, or if I'm gonna have to forego adapting/using the B/E kit and go a different path.

My loop bolts to the floor. By bolt on you mean no drilling? Or just no welding?

There are a couple of DS loops that bolt-to the trans crossmember that APPEAR to be nice. But I don't know how that would work CONTAINING a drive-shaft that is whipping-around....if a UJ broke.

I myself ..would be more comfortable with a DS loop that is more of a standard-design.

From the designer himself, the bolt on hang off the rear of the crossmember design driveshaft loop was never intended for competition use, it is of course better then nothing, but really a compromise design for those not willing to drill any holes or weld.

BTW, this mentioned admission above was given to me in a face to face meeting at carlisle a few years back, when I directly questioned the interigty of the design in restraining a flailing driveshaft at speed with his design, and in all fairness, he actually earned high marks from me in acknowledging his designs limitations, which is a rare quality by business people in this day and age.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

And another point to touch on...Even if you go with the floor mount unit it really should have more support than just drilling into the floorpan....If you do have a failure you'd probably rip the loop right out of the pan without any additional reinforcement...

I have John's bolt-in loop on my 70 Duster and really like it, but unfortunately it is not designed for the later styles. I bolted it to the crossmember and the floor.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will do some checking and see what it looks like for adapting. This won't be in a race car, just a hopeful 13 second car.
